Windows freezes when pressing "play"-button starting games
Hi, I have a big problem with my windows 7 home premium 64-bit. When I'm trying to start a game windows freezes and I can't move the mouse and no mather what I press on the keyboard. The only thing to do is to shut down the computer by pull out the power cable. I have installed 3 games since i purchased my new computer 10 days ago, only one of them are working, and that is Empire: Total War, wich is started via Steam. The other games, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and FIFA 11, don't work and windows freezes when I press play-button! Well, this problem CAN be related to some changes I've done on the hardware. I wanted to switch the graphic card (Geforce GT320) to my old, better, Radeon 4850, so I did so. Then the original 300W power supply was not strong enough, so I purchased a Corsair 550W. Now my system looks like this: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, AMD Phenom II X6 1035t, 6 GB RAM, 1 TB harddrive and a ATI Radeon HD 4850 When I switched graphic card I installed new drivers, of course. BUT I had problems removing the old ones. They don't want to dissappear from my computer, thats it. I use the "Add and remove program", they were removed, but Driver Sweeper still found a lot of display drivers by nvidia. I tried to remove them with Driver Sweeper but when I restart my system they are still there. I can't remove them. The thing is that the games worked fine the first days when I switched graphic card and power supply. I don't know if they were the reason to this, as I said Total War still works fine. I have tried using System Restore to undo all changes and go back to 2011-01-11 when all worked fine, but no difference, same problem. I have reinstalled the games, reinstalled drivers for graphic card. I even tried to reinstall windows with the Acer Recovery Software that was sent with the computer (I have no CDs). But it says "Restore failed - Can not find image path :M:\D2D\Images\*.SWM " I strange thing is that now I can't uninstall some programs either. Bad company 2 can't be unistalled. Same thing happens, windows freezing and I can do nothing at all. When I try to uninstall other smaller programs sometimes the uninstallation won't start at all... Same thing with display drivers. PLEASE HELP ME, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO! Everything else works perfect. Surfing, listening to music, watch movies, playing total war...

Hi, It seems that graphic card driver lead to this issue. You could go to Device Manager, right click the device and select Uninstall. Reboot and let Windows redetect the device, then install the newest graphic card driver: AMD Support Search Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. A clean boot would help to eliminate software conflicts. Hope it helps.
